School Committee · Meeting of August 5, 2026

Southampton School Committee ratifies three-year contracts for teachers and support staff. Chair Jen Johnson and members Ashley Stone, Michelle DeRosa and Dylan Motley voted 4-0 by roll call to ratify a Southampton Teachers Association agreement dated July 15, 2026, then a matching deal for paraprofessionals, administrative assistants and custodians. Business Administrator Dawn reported the district finished fiscal 2026 about $59,465 under its $5,859,582 town-funded budget, helped by roughly $51,000 recovered from old regional grant accounts.

Motley asked whether savings tied to school-choice tuition could be preserved "rather than having free cash flow back to the town." Principal Aliza reported 481 students enrolled, $100,000 in new classroom flooring, and $16,860 in bus-loop sidewalk repairs. Superintendent Vito cited 230 Advanced Placement exams taken districtwide this year, up from 155, with 84 percent scoring a 3 or higher.
