Southampton Voters to Decide $1 Million in Borrowing at June 20 Special Town Meeting

SOUTHAMPTON — June 11, 2026 — Southampton posts nine-article warrant for June 20 special town meeting, including $1 million in borrowing. The town moderator read the full warrant at a June 11 session, previewing articles that would authorize the treasurer to borrow $600,000 for a new fire department ambulance and $400,000 for a highway department dump snow removal truck, both under MGL Chapter 44. Three Community Preservation Act articles would spend $481,420 in CPA funds, the largest being a $424,800 conservation restriction on roughly 75 acres at 27 Middle Road known as the Triple Brook property. A separate article would draw $200,000 from the Operational Stabilization Fund to settle a prior-year Hampshire Regional School District assessment. Bylaw amendments include new wintertime wetland delineation standards and the deletion of flood-zone utility siting language from the zoning code. Voters would also consider establishing a seven-member Accessibility Commission under MGL Chapter 40, Section 8J.
