Planning Board · Meeting of August 5, 2026

Southampton Planning Board continues medical office hearing over truck access and neighbor privacy. Engineer Mike Bowen of Laveck & Associates presented KBIP LLC's plan for a 7,200-square-foot medical office at 38 College Highway with 36 parking spaces, but member Mark Darnall said the layout gives garbage trucks and ambulances no way to leave without backing onto the highway: "I just have a hard time imagining Southampton Ambulance backing out." A neighbor, Chris, asked for an 8-foot privacy fence and shielded lighting, saying plow trucks would send "strobe lights and headlights... directly into our home." The hearing continues to September 2. Separately, the board approved a stormwater special permit for Pete Klostowa's 50 Crooked Ledge Road home and voted 2-0, with two members recused, to hire Berkshire Design Group for up to $7,000 to peer-review a solar and battery storage project at 53 Pleasant Street.
