Select Board Fixes ZBA Membership After Denied Appeal

Southampton Select Board fixes a Zoning Board of Appeals quorum gap after a denied variance. Members voted unanimously to clarify Select Board member John Lumbra's ZBA seat as a full member through June 30, 2027, and to promote fellow member Charlie from alternate to full member through June 30, 2029, giving the ZBA five full voters and zero alternates after an August 12 appeal was denied 3-1 when the board could only muster four voters. The board also approved hiring Jackson Briard for the Highway Department at $21.73 an hour and added hours for Council on Aging aide Darlene Machoco at $21.21 an hour, funded by a transit reimbursement grant Senior Center Director Keith DeSanto said grew to $75,000 from $35,000.
Members declared a floor buffer, a vacuum and filing cabinets surplus, approved a beer and wine permit for the Cow Plop Derby, and entered executive session, 4-0, on litigation involving a solar matter and East Hampton Media.
