Southampton Select Board Closes Nine-Article Special Town Meeting Warrant, Signs Conservation Deed

SOUTHAMPTON — June 1, 2026 — Southampton's Select Board finalizes nine-article Special Town Meeting warrant for June 20 vote. Meeting jointly with the Finance Capital Committee on June 1, the board unanimously closed and signed the warrant, which covers a $200,000 second installment toward a Hampshire Regional School District central-office debt under a three-year repayment plan, borrowing authorizations of up to $600,000 for a new ambulance and approximately $400,000 for a dump-and-plow truck, a proposed seven-member Accessibility Commission bylaw under MGL Chapter 40 Section 8J, $14,000 in Community Preservation Act matching funds to unlock $52,000 in remaining state Mass Trails money, and up to $424,800 in CPA funds for a Middle Road conservation restriction covering roughly 75 acres. The board also voted unanimously to accept the deed for approximately 27 acres off Fulmer Road adjacent to Wolf Hill, a step required to meet a June 30 state land grant deadline; Kestrel Land Trust will hold the conservation restriction on the property.
